So Wild, So Beautiful, So Close

The cheetah has taken 4 million years to evolve into the exceptional animal that it is today and man has taken just 100 years to add it to the endangered list. Fortunately there are projects in South Africa working tirelessly to rectify the situation.

The Spier Estate in Stellenbosch has donated land to a group of hand-raised cheetahs in the care of the Cheetah Outreach Programme which assists the Cheetah Conservation Fund in their efforts to protect the future of this dynamic and stunningly beautiful cat.

As part of the awareness and education programmes guests are able to book a Cheetah Encounter which offers the opportunity to interact with hand-reared cheetahs and if available with young cubs too; a privilege for you and a benefit to the trust which survives on donations.

You will find many other interesting and exciting projects throughout South Africa run by dedicated people whose mission it is to preserve the extraordinary wildlife of South Africa.
