Beauty and the feast

You’ve arrived in picturesque South Africa and you’re eager to discover a national dish or two.

Bobotie is a baked dish consisting of spiced minced beef with a light and fluffy egg based topping whilst Potjiekos is a traditionally slow cooked casserole with chicken or lamb, although modern interpretations can be found using game. Both authentic dishes are great meals to enjoy in groups, and as such will be served at African lodges or camps whilst gourmet versions of these dishes may be available in the more upmarket city hotels.

Trying national dishes like these are a good way of introducing you to some small part of the culture of the African people.
